British-American journalist Mehdi Hasan strongly responded to Eric Trump after the latter made controversial remarks about New York City’s mayor-elect, Zohran Mamdani. In a recent Fox News interview, Eric Trump accused Mamdani of “hating the Indian population,” along with attacking him for wanting to “arrest Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu” and supporting “socialist and communist ideologies.”

Eric Trump claimed Mamdani aimed to defund law enforcement, nationalize grocery stores, and was against both Jewish and Indian communities. He expressed concern that such policies would harm New York City.

Mehdi Hasan reacted by pointing out the factual error in Eric Trump’s statement, noting on social media that, “Zohran Mamdani is Indian.” He added a sarcastic remark: “This is why they call Eric the dumbest of the dumb sons.”

Zohran Mamdani, son of Indian-American filmmaker Mira Nair, made history by becoming New York’s first Muslim, Indian-origin mayor. He won the November 4 mayoral election with over 1 million votes, securing 50.4% of the vote share. At 34 years old, he’s also the youngest person elected to the post in more than a century.

Throughout the election campaign, Mamdani was frequently targeted by then-President Donald Trump, who labeled him a “communist” and even threatened to reduce federal funding for New York if Mamdani was elected.
