On Wednesday evening, Netflix experienced a major outage in the United States, temporarily disrupting streaming services for thousands of users. The issue also caused similar problems in India, just as Stranger Things Season 5 Volume 1 was released, adding to user frustration.

Immediately after the episode went live, users began reporting problems such as frozen screens and app crashes on social media. The outage prompted a surge of complaints, particularly around streaming errors and server connection issues.

According to Downdetector, more than 8,000 users in the U.S. reported issues, with 51% citing streaming problems and 41% struggling with server connectivity. In India, several hundred users reported encountering the same glitches.

Social platforms filled with posts from fans showing images of frozen frames and endless loading circles. Many expressed disappointment over staying up late just to face technical issues. “Waited all day for this and now Netflix is down,” one user wrote, while another added, “Staying off social media until I can watch – I can’t risk spoilers.”

Netflix has not yet commented on the cause of the outage. This isn’t the first time the platform has experienced server strain during popular show releases. In July 2022, a similar issue occurred when the final episodes of Season 4 of Stranger Things were released.
