Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk shared his views on India’s potential and the future of work during a podcast with Indian entrepreneur Nikhil Kamath. Musk expressed his desire to launch Starlink in India, emphasizing the role of technology in improving internet access in rural areas. He explained that Starlink is especially effective in underserved regions where traditional networks struggle, making it less suitable for densely populated cities.

Discussing the role of Indian talent, Musk praised the impact of Indian professionals in the United States. He addressed concerns around the H-1B visa program, acknowledging misuse by some companies but firmly opposing its cancellation. Musk emphasized that the U.S. has “immensely benefited” from the immigration of skilled Indians.

Looking ahead, Musk predicted a future where work could become optional due to advancements in AI and robotics. He envisioned a “post-work society” in less than 20 years, where jobs may become more like hobbies. He highlighted opportunities for people to explore learning in areas like science and the arts.

Reflecting on education, he advised young people to embrace learning across different subjects and use college as a space for social growth. For aspiring Indian entrepreneurs, Musk advised focusing on creating value: โ€œAim to make more than you takeโ€ and be a โ€œnet contributor to society.โ€ He stated that financial success follows usefulness, not the other way around.
