Musk Opposes H-1B Visa Shutdown, Highlights Negative Impact on US

India is preparing for another general election, and the focus is on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s performance over the last decade. Since taking office in 2014, Modi has promised to transform India through economic growth, infrastructure development, and improved governance. Supporters credit him for boosting India’s global presence, completing large-scale infrastructure projects, and implementing welfare schemes like free housing and improved access to electricity and clean cooking fuel.

However, critics argue that under Modi’s leadership, India has seen an increase in religious tension, suppression of dissent, and restrictions on press freedom. The opposition claims that inflation and unemployment remain major concerns. Despite these criticisms, Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) remains popular across large parts of India, especially among the Hindu majority. His image as a strong leader and a champion of national pride continues to resonate with voters.

One of Modi’s significant achievements includes a more direct delivery of government benefits to citizens through digital platforms, reducing corruption and delays. Programs like Jan Dhan Yojana have helped many poor Indians open bank accounts, while other initiatives offer subsidies and financial aid directly into people’s accounts. Furthermore, he launched high-profile campaigns such as “Make in India” to encourage manufacturing and “Swachh Bharat” (Clean India) to improve sanitation.

Looking ahead, Modi is aiming for a third term. The outcome of the 2024 election will determine whether his vision for a “New India” continues or if the country chooses a different direction. Regardless of political views, the upcoming polls reflect the hopes and concerns of over a billion people shaping the future of the world’s largest democracy.
