Tragic Loss: Doctor’s Suicide After US Visa Rejection in Andhra

“`html

A 38-year-old female doctor from Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh, tragically died by suicide at her apartment in Hyderabad. Police believe she was suffering from depression after being denied a US visa, which she had been eagerly awaiting for a job opportunity.

The incident came to light on November 22 when the woman, identified as Rohini, did not respond to knocks on her door. Concerned, her domestic help informed her family members, who later found her deceased after breaking into her flat.

Preliminary reports suggest Rohini may have overdosed on sleeping pills or possibly taken an injection. Authorities are still awaiting the final postmortem report to determine the exact cause of death. A suicide note found at the scene indicated that she had been battling depression, worsened by repeated visa rejections.

Her mother, Lakshmi, shared that Rohini was highly dedicated to her profession and had completed her MBBS in Kyrgyzstan between 2005 and 2010 with an excellent academic record. She had aspirations to specialize in internal medicine and chose to reside in Hyderabad’s Padma Rao Nagar for access to libraries. Despite her mother’s advice to pursue a medical career in India, Rohini was focused on moving to the United States, citing better working conditions and income.

Unmarried and entirely committed to her medical career, Rohini had grown increasingly isolated and mentally exhausted by the visa denial process. Her mother believes the prolonged struggle deeply affected her emotional well-being.

The Chilkalguda Police have filed a case and further investigation is ongoing.
