Why Indians Succeed Globally According to Shark Tank Judge

Shark Tank India judge and Shaadi.com founder Anupam Mittal has shared his insights on why Indians are emerging as global leaders in business and politics. In a recent LinkedIn post, Mittal attributed this rise to a powerful combination of “immigrant trauma” and “Indian guilt parenting”, which together create an “unstoppable hunger” to succeed.

Citing examples of successful Indian-origin individuals, Mittal highlighted Zohnran Mamdani, recently elected as the first Indian-origin Mayor of New York City at age 34. He also acknowledged Adarsh Hiremath and Surya Midha, who became the world’s youngest billionaires at the age of 22, surpassing even Mark Zuckerberg. Mittal praised their drive to outwork others and seize opportunities that others may take for granted. He also mentioned Saikat Chakrabarti, who is now running for a US congressional seat against Nancy Pelosi.

“Everywhere you look at top positions, you’ll see Indians. They showed up, outworked everyone, and took what others felt entitled to,” said Mittal, reinforcing his belief that this mental and cultural framework contributes greatly to Indian success globally.

In another post, Mittal encouraged Indian tech professionals abroad to consider returning to India. Reacting to a recent increase in US H-1B visa fees, he reflected on his personal journey, stating that giving up his Green Card to return home was a more fulfilling decision. He urged others to do the same for personal growth and national development.
