Celebrating 40 Years of Service: Indian-Origin Employee Gifted $40,000 by McDonald’s Owner

After 40 years of devoted service at a McDonald’s in Saugus, Massachusetts, Indian-origin worker Pargan Singh, fondly called “Balbir,” was honored with a grand celebration. Starting with basic kitchen duties and trash handling, Singh steadily worked his way up to become a swing manager within just a few months. His dedication and supportive nature made him a beloved figure among coworkers, who regard him as family.

To mark this remarkable milestone, Singh’s colleagues organized a red-carpet ceremony, complete with a limousine ride and a special dinner. The highlight of the evening was a generous $40,000 gift, presented to him as a token of appreciation for his commitment over the decades.

Lindsay Wallin, the current owner of the McDonald’s location, emphasized Singh’s importance to the organization. Having worked for her father before she took over the business, Singh has remained a cornerstone of the team. “He’s a great person, fully dedicated to the job and his coworkers, who all affectionately call him ‘papa bear,’” said Wallin.

When asked why he stayed so long, Singh simply responded, “It’s kind of like family— that’s why I’ve been here so long.” His story reflects not just professional dedication but also the strong sense of community built over years of shared experiences and teamwork.
