A highly anticipated interview featuring Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Indian podcaster Nikhil Kamath was recently released on the show ‘People by WTF.’ The conversation covered a range of topics including entrepreneurship, investment, artificial intelligence, and India’s potential role in future technologies.
Musk praised Indian talent multiple times during the interview. Speaking on immigration and the US H-1B visa program, he stated, “America has benefitted immensely from talented Indians.” Although acknowledging some misuse of the program, he emphasized that it should not be shut down.
Discussing the future of work, Musk made a bold forecast: “In less than 20 years, working at all will be optional…like a hobby.” With the rise of AI and robotics, he believes that day-to-day work may become unnecessary for many.
On future plans for SpaceX’s Starlink program, Musk expressed a strong desire to operate in India, stating, “We’d love to be operating in India. That would be great.”
When asked about advice for young Indian entrepreneurs, Musk responded, “Anyone who wants to build has my respect. Aim to make more than you take. Be a net contributor to society.”
Musk also revealed a personal connection to India. His partner Shivon Zilis is “half-Indian,” and one of their children’s middle name is ‘Sekhar,’ named after Indian-American astrophysicist S. Chandrasekhar.
The interview offered insights not only into Musk’s views on technological progress and business but also highlighted his appreciation for India’s talent and potential role in the global tech space.
