Balbir Singh, an Indian-origin McDonald’s employee in Massachusetts, received a grand celebration after completing 40 years of dedicated service at the fast-food chain. Singh, who began working with McDonald’s shortly after moving to the United States in the mid-1980s, was honored with a red-carpet welcome, a limousine ride, and a $40,000 cheque in recognition of his loyalty and hard work.
The tribute was organized by Lindsay Wallin, the franchise owner who currently manages nine McDonald’s restaurants in the area. Singh started in the kitchen taking on basic roles and gradually moved into management, now overseeing multiple locations under Wallin’s leadership. Wallin praised Singh as a foundational member of the team and credited his contributions for shaping the company’s positive work culture over four decades.
“Balbir began his journey with us by doing everything he could — from kitchen tasks to helping at the back. Over time, his dedication and leadership pushed him into management roles,” said Wallin. She added that Singh had worked under her father, Bob King, the original franchise owner, who believed in building a family-like work environment — a philosophy she aims to carry forward.
Singh was also applauded for embracing the company’s ‘Why not?’ attitude — encouraging growth, improvement, and innovation. His mindset and commitment have opened doors for many employees and contributed to the company’s success.
At the ceremony, colleagues presented Singh with a service award, a special “One in Eight” jacket, and a $40,000 cheque, celebrating not only his long tenure but also his lasting impact on the team and business.
