A photo from Thanksgiving 2024 featuring U.S. Vice President JD Vance with his wife Usha and her Indian-origin family has gone viral. The image shows Vance casually dressed, holding his son on his shoulders, while Usha Vance holds their daughter, surrounded by family members celebrating the holiday.
However, right-wing commentator Nick Fuentes sparked controversy by mocking the family photo in a video many have labeled as racist. He pointed out the racial makeup of the gathering, stating that it included only “two white people” and “24 Indian or East Asian” individuals. Fuentes sarcastically compared the Indian-origin family members’ traditional clothing to indigenous garb, suggesting they didn’t fit the historical meaning of Thanksgiving.
Fuentes further joked that the first Thanksgiving was meant to be a gathering between Europeans and Native Americans, not people from India. In another offensive remark, he ridiculed a red drink seen in the photo, comparing it to street beverages made in India in an unsanitary way.
He concluded his video by suggesting to viewers that the photo alone was enough to judge JD Vance unfavorably, criticizing the Vice President from a MAGA-aligned perspective. The video received backlash online for its racial undertones and disrespect toward cultural traditions.
