Tragic Suicide of Andhra Doctor Following US Visa Rejection

“`html

A 38-year-old woman doctor from Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh, allegedly died by suicide at her flat in Hyderabad. Police suspect depression from repeated US visa rejections drove her to take this step.

The tragic incident came to light on November 22 when her family, residing in another part of the city, found the door locked and unresponsive. Upon breaking it open, they discovered her body. Their maid had earlier alerted them after the woman, identified as Rohini, failed to answer the door.

Police stated that Rohini may have overdosed on sleeping pills or injected herself. However, the exact cause of death will be confirmed after the postmortem report. A suicide note was recovered, in which she expressed her depression and referred to the US visa denial as a reason.

According to her mother, Lakshmi, Rohini had dreams of pursuing a medical career in the US and was deeply disheartened after her visa application was rejected. She had completed her MBBS in Kyrgyzstan between 2005 and 2010 and was known for her academic excellence. Rohini had been staying in Padma Rao Nagar, Hyderabad, to access nearby libraries as she was preparing to specialize in internal medicine.

Despite her mother’s advice to continue her medical career in India, Rohini remained focused on moving to the US, drawn by better opportunities and work-life balance. Her mother noted that the prolonged wait and disappointment deepened her depression in recent weeks.

Rohini was unmarried and had devoted herself entirely to her medical aspirations. The Chilkalguda Police have registered a case and are conducting further investigations.
