U.S. Imposes Sanctions on Indian Entities for Iranian Oil Sales

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has detained a 22-year-old suspect, a carpenter by profession, from Mumbra in Thane district, in connection with an alleged plot by the banned Islamic State (IS) terrorist group to target key locations in Mumbai and other parts of India. The arrest follows a series of coordinated raids conducted in multiple cities across Maharashtra and Karnataka.

The individual is believed to have been actively involved in planning attacks and was in contact with foreign IS handlers. Investigations revealed he had also attempted to collect explosive materials and was undergoing radicalization through online platforms. Authorities suspect he was part of a broader network working to spread terror activities under the influence of the IS ideology.

Officials say that digital evidence collected during raids is being analyzed and could lead to further arrests. The NIA has registered a case and continues to interrogate the arrested suspect to trace other possible links and collaborators. Security forces remain on high alert as the investigation progresses, with measures being taken to ensure public safety in sensitive areas.
