US Executive Suspended After Leaked Audio Insults Indian Employees

Martin Bally, Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer at Campbell Soup Company, has been placed on leave following allegations of making offensive comments about the company’s food and employees. A lawsuit filed by former cybersecurity analyst Robert Garza claims Bally referred to Campbell’s products as “food for poor people,” criticized the use of “bioengineered meat,” and said he avoids eating the company’s food. Garza also accuses Bally of making racist remarks targeting Indian employees, calling them “idiots” in an audio recording he submitted to the media.

The recording allegedly includes Bally stating, “We have food for poor people,” and expressing distrust of ingredients like “3D-printed chicken.” He also reportedly admitted to working under the influence of marijuana edibles. Garza asserts that he was terminated just 20 days after reporting Bally’s behavior to his manager.

In response, Campbell Soup Company called the remarks “unacceptable” and said they do not reflect its values. The company clarified Bally’s role does not involve food production and emphasized that its products are made with “100% real chicken” and focus on quality. While the company was unaware of the recordings at the time, Bally has been placed on leave pending investigation.

Martin Bally joined Campbell in January 2022 with over two decades of cybersecurity experience, previously holding executive positions at companies like Stellantis and Diebold Nixdorf. He holds a Master of Science in Information Assurance and has been recognized as a top cybersecurity executive.
