Indian professionals working in the U.S. under the H-1B visa program received significant reassurance after the White House clarified there are no plans to remove them from their jobs or send them back to India.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that President Donald Trump does not support any policies aimed at expelling skilled foreign workers. While acknowledging that Trump’s understanding of the H-1B visa program is “basic,” she emphasized that he has never suggested replacing these workers with American citizens.

Addressing recent media reports claiming that H-1B employees could lose their jobs to U.S. citizens, Leavitt dismissed them as misinterpretations of the President’s comments.

According to Leavitt, Trump supports encouraging foreign companies to:

• Invest substantially in the U.S.
• Bring their skilled professionals to work in America
• Boost industries such as technology, battery production, and manufacturing

However, in the long run, Trump hopes these investments will generate more employment opportunities for American workers.

The confusion began when Trump remarked that companies doing business in America should hire American citizens. The White House clarified that this statement was taken out of context. Leavitt further explained that the President has placed tariffs on various countries to promote domestic manufacturing and encourage foreign businesses to set up operations in the U.S.
