Why Indian Professionals in Germany Outearn Peers Amid H-1B Concerns

As confusion grows around the H-1B visa program in the United States following a steep $100,000 fee hike, Germany is stepping up to attract skilled Indian professionals. German Ambassador to India, Dr. Philipp Ackermann, has publicly invited Indian talent to explore work opportunities in Germany, especially in sectors like IT, management, science, and technology.

“Germany offers stable migration policies and great job prospects for Indians. We welcome highly skilled individuals looking to build a successful career,” said Ackermann in a recent message shared online. He highlighted that Indians are among the highest-earning professionals in Germany, underlining their contributions to the German economy and society.

In his statement, the envoy also made a subtle comparison between Germany’s reliable immigration system and its well-known engineering, saying, “Our migration policy works like a German car—modern, predictable, and stable. We do not change rules overnight.”

Ackermann’s comments come shortly after the US government raised the H-1B visa fee by nearly 60%, making it far more challenging for companies to hire foreign professionals. This change is expected to impact Indian workers the most, as they currently account for more than 70% of H-1B visa holders.

Germany, on the other hand, is positioning itself as a dependable and welcoming destination for Indian professionals seeking growth in their careers abroad.
