Nalin Haley, son of Indian-American Republican leader Nikki Haley, has publicly distanced himself from his Indian heritage, stating that his only allegiance is to the United States. “All I’ve ever known is America. I’m not going to have any sort of weird loyalty to a country I’ve never been to,” Nalin said.
Expressing concern over legal immigration, he argued that it is not responsible during a time when the U.S. economy is unstable, with companies not hiring Americans and AI replacing jobs. “It makes no sense to invite foreign workers when our own youth are without work,” he added.
Nalin, whose grandfather Ajit Singh Randhawa migrated from Punjab and became a respected academic in the U.S., has spoken against H1-B visas and legal immigration.
The 24-year-old finance professional is now positioning himself as a voice for Gen Z conservatives, criticizing the Republican Party for ignoring young people’s concerns. He warned that the GOP is prioritizing corporate elites over American workers. He pointed to the electoral success of Zohran Mamdani as a sign that Democrats are engaging with younger voters better than Republicans.
Identifying as a Christian, nationalist, and populist, Nalin highlighted that Gen Z conservatives are increasingly rejecting free market policies and becoming more skeptical of unrestricted immigration. “A free market is basically just a lawless market,” he said.
Although he does not plan to run for office, Nalin hopes to influence the Republican agenda to better reflect the economic and social concerns of his generation. “I want the party to embrace a Christian ethic, American nationalism, and economic realism that supports regular American workers,” he concluded.
