Fans of dark, grounded fantasy RPGs should keep an eye on Fatekeeper, an upcoming first-person role-playing game centered on melee combat and spellcasting. Its announcement trailer quickly gained attention, and now a new gameplay video offers an in-depth eight-minute look at its action-packed world.
Created by a small 12-person team at Paraglacial, Fatekeeper blends tactical combat, flexible skill paths, and immersive storytelling. While it draws inspiration from classics like Hexen, Fatekeeper stands apart with deeper RPG mechanics, character progression, and exploration. Players can combine magic and melee, building unique combat styles from a robust skill tree — becoming anything from battle-heavy warriors to masterful spellcasters.
The combat has hints of Soulslike titles, focusing on timing and strategy without being overly punishing. The goal is to offer responsive, meaningful combat with room for varied builds and play styles. The story sets players in the boreal archipelago of Solace, where they assume the role of a Druid, tasked with restoring balance in a world torn by war and rebellion.
Built using Unreal Engine 5, Fatekeeper showcases rich visuals and technical ambition. While it’s confirmed for an Early Access release on Steam in 2026, console versions are also in the works post-launch.
The developers are keeping some surprises under wraps — like the mysterious rat seen in the gameplay trailer — but they promise more reveals in the future. Fatekeeper is shaping up to be a deep and rewarding RPG for fans seeking a challenging, immersive experience.
