You’re invited to a lunchtime forum focusing on Indian Ocean History, hosted by the History Department. This engaging session will take place in the Ranglas Room, RWAC 0935. The forum will feature a discussion led by the conveners on Isabel Homeyi’s work titled “The Complicating Sea: The Indian Ocean as Method,” originally published in 2012. This piece explores the Indian Ocean as a lens for understanding broader historical and cultural exchanges across South Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.
Registered attendees will receive the article in advance to prepare for the discussion. Lunch will be provided during the session. This is a great opportunity for students and scholars interested in maritime history, transregional studies, and comparative historical methods to join the conversation and deepen their understanding of the Indian Ocean’s role in shaping interconnected histories.
